Countdown

Was by the Olympics clock today and it shows 20 days to the opening ceremony. Twenty long days for IOC and VANOC to worry about the state of the snow on Grouse Mountain. Will we be seeing refrigerated trucks hauling snow from Big White or even Alberta?

Bench

This is the residual of the light sprinkle of snow we had on Sunday.

A dusting

had light dusting yesterday. The first two were taken at 9:00AM. The last one was taken after lunch.

Guess what?

It snowed today! Actually, it snowed early in the morning then turned to rain. Second snow this month. Must be some kind of record.

March snow

Snow in March!? I say somebody has serious misread the map thinking this is the east coast. What's nwxt? Snow in August?

Yeah, that's what we had today, SNOW! This time of the year in Vancouver. Hard to believe.

Wouldn't be long now

After all the snow we had this is a little reminder that we can look forward to streets like this sooner than we realize.

Central Park

Happened to pass by Central Park the other day and the entire site was enveloped in a thick and heavy mist due to the melting snow.

Snowboarding

A great way to enjoy Canadian winter and snow is snowboarding. Many Lower mainland residents are fortunate that the North Shore powder snow is reachable by public transit.

More snow

It is raining so let's do another post on the snow before it is all gone!!!

Snow banks

Heavy snowfalls result in snow banks. Last year after a more than normal heavy snow a home owner in Quebec was looking at the pile of snow his backyard. As a lark he decided to auction it off at eBay. Don't remember the exact final bid but it was over $5,000. Apparently the winner didn't realized he was buying a huge amount of snow. Eventually a kind heart soul stepped in purchased the snow when word went out that the entire proceed was for charity.

Flood & mist

Mild temperature after heavy snowfall always produces fog and mist. Rapid melting snow and rain results in floods.

Keep warm

It started to snow again! This young couple demonstrated one way of keeping warm.

It's snowing

The weather has turned warm, just warm enough for the snow to be the wet moist type. Consequently the roads had become slippery. This bus was stuck on a not all that steep incline. Think of the people at the bus stop were from that bus.

More snow

As you can see other people had the same idea, take some photos of the snow. Saw this family on the path and i wasn't going to let such a good opportunity slip by.

Snow and cold

It not only snowed but cold also. Cold enough for the snow to stay around. We have a fresh batch on top of this. More is on the way.

As you can see some people like the guy aren't leaving anything to chance. Notice he carried a shovel with him as he made his way on foot.

We had a light dusting of the white stuff yesterday. No, these are from one earlier in the year. Thought this is a good time to post them.
