A reminder

No idea what BOB is but do understand the message on the bottom. These are found on Safeway checkout registers.

Richmond BC

What caught my eyes was the pagoda. This restaurant is located in Richmond's restaurant row.

Lush

Looks familiar, doesn't it? Taking advantage of Beatlemania's second coming?

Beard Papa

Beard Papa's Burnaby store finally opened for business. But it appears business is no where near what what it was when the first shop opened in Richmond.

Low hung

Thought back pockets on these type of pants are non-functional until I encountered this gal the other day on the Skytrain.

This is Vancouver??

Saw this on the front door of a furniture store on West Broadway. Had seen it on jewelery stores before. Had no idea that crime has climbed to such a level in Vancouver.

New train

The one big improvement of the new Skytrain carts is the displaying the destination on the train itself. The signs in the stations are so small that old folkies like me have a hard time reading it at a distance.

Mooncakes promo

Maxim Bakery in Hong Kong has signed up Kelly Chan to promote their mooncakes. She is a 30-something Hong Kong Canton-pop artist who, last year, spent HK$25 million on her wedding.

Woodwards

This section of the Woodwards redevelopment is quite impressive. I think completion date is early or mid 2010.

Social gathering

Don't know whether she has a business license from the city or not. But she is there everyday. I guess it is rent free. The t-shirt is a souvenir (leftover?) from the 1996 Toronto Dragon Boat Race. Any chance she had spent the last 13 years trying to liquidate that stock?

Corner of Main & Pender

No idea why CIBC would have a bench right outside its door, especially in that part of town. Or this is a social service?

A hang out

This was the Mc on Granview Hwy and Renfrew. Now I know where they are hang outing now that they don't go down to Chinatown anymore.

Are you opened?

Spotted her sweeping from the other side of the street. Fortunately traffic light enough for me to dash partially across the street to take this.

Radisson

The Radisson has been part of Richmond's President Plaza since day 1 which is almost 20 years ago. Yet strangely never did approached it from this angle.

Terry Fox Run 2009

Took part in the 29th Annual Terry Fox Run today at Central Park. They switched from Swangard Stadium to the outdoor pool for starting. This forced a reconfiguration the route. Consequently there were more options with distances of 2km, 4km, 8km, and 10km to choose from. The routes are clearly marked with volunteers standing at junctions ensuring nobody took a wrong turn.

Canada Line

These photos are of the Cambie, Aberdeen, and Olympic Village stations.

Did they even think?

Now that the Canada Line has been running for almost a month so decided to take a trip to Richmond on it. Translink's website said the best route is to transfer from the 99B at the Cambie station. Big mistake!

The wise ones at Vancouver City Hall decided yesterday was a great day to remove the blacktop along the section along Broadway between Yukon and Ash. Traffic was reduced one lane each direction. Travel time between Main Street and Ash was close to 20 minutes.

This is one of, if not, the busiest street in Vancouver. Why could they do the work suring the summer when traffic is lighter? Hey they have at least 2 weeks after the Canada Line opened. And what about weekends? Sure it cost more but taxes being going up every year anyhow.

Sports drink

Always thought claims made by sports drink makers are of the snake oil variety. But purchased a can of powder because the ready-made is too sweet for my taste. Anyway early last year I stopped drinking it after my runs. Could be a coincident but a left thigh muscle started to act up. Then switched to the right thigh. Didn't cleared up until I went back to drinking Gatorade again.
