Sunday schedule

We know that on Sundays and holidays public transit starts its day at 7 AM. The Millennium Line doesn't have any train leaving its VCC Clark terminal until the first west bound train from the Lougheed Mall Station arrives. Consequently there is no east bound train until 7:30 or so. In the meantime east bound trains depart from Lougheed Mall Station on a regular basis. Translink has these empty trains waiting on the track between Production University Station and Lougheed Mall Station. My question is why not have earlier departures from the stations between VCC Clark and Lougheed Mall?

Late but...

According to the sign this addition was scheduled for completion earlier in the year. Today Translink re-open its bus terminal which this building sits on top of. Guess we can take today, July 28, as the official completion date which means construction is at least a month behind schedule. Could be expensive for the contractor.

Tax dollar at work

A few days ago I posted a sign inside the Skytrain cars. At the time I was wondering whether the sign was necessary. Now I see Translink has a case.

It does make a person wondered how people can be so irresponsible. Do they do this at home? Translink has to hire workers to clean up mess such as this. Where do they think the money comes from? Their own pockets. Either through higher fare or subsidy from the provincial government. We all know that governments have no money other than what they collect from the people.

This is our tax dollar at work!!

Keep it clean

Guess the transit users, some users anyway, are a pretty messy bunch or at least enough for Translink to put this sign inside the carts. The question is how effective is it? Will the intended group pay any attention to it? Will they modify their behavior because a sign like this?

In the news

No, they aren't members of Vancouver's finest. They are hired by the transit system to catch fare-skippers and to maintain security. Nonetheless they are armed. The only non-regular force in Canada to do so.

Lately the transit security police are in the news because in addition to the regualar fire-arms they are equipped with the infamous "taser". The local media had dscovered that the transit police had on more than one occasion used the taser on non-violent but fleeting non-fare payers.

How much is the fare? It is $2.50 for one zone. Imagine being tased for $2.50 which is about the price of a latte at Starbucks.

Salmontrain

At first glance my thought was Translink had jump on the green bandwagon to promote its business. It was only after snapping this photo and seating comfortably in front of my computer and read the small prints before realizing this is a sponsored ad.

ATM

An ATM is not what one would expect to see in a public transit station where people as a rule are rushing to catch a connecting bus or train. Could it be that Translink realize fares are high enough that the occasional cash withdrawal for ticket purchase has become a reality?

No receipts

A No Receipts sign on this ticket dispenser at the Lougheed Station. Just curious how a rider using this particular dispenser will be able to convince the Translink police that he/she had actually paid the fare? Will ask this the next time I see a Translink employee.

Notice the dents at the bottom of these dispensers? Guess more than one rider was frustrated when interacting with the computerized system. Or do you think somebody might had tried to get at the cash inside?
