Parking
Me think this driver got it backward. Most people would park as close to the post as possible in order to leave more room on the other side.

Is this necessary?
Passing by the Pacific Press office the other day and this struck me as odd. Can I take this to mean that firefighters in Vancouver have problem recognizing a fire hydrant when they see one? Is this the reason they used to take Spots long?

The sign that lies

Bad name
Was behind this van one day. There was nothing the matter. The driver wasn't speeding or doing anything wild. Anyway the light was red and was visible from a long distant. Was truly surprised when it managed to come to a full stop on top of the pedestrian crossing. A check of its rear window revealed it is a taxi. My thought was "Okay, it is a taxi which explains it." It wasn't later before I realized the brakes may not be as good as it should be.

Million bucks
At the height of Vancouver real estate surge this or houses in that area were going for a million $$$ or close to it. Wonder how many purchasers are having second thoughts?

Central Park
Happened to pass by Central Park the other day and the entire site was enveloped in a thick and heavy mist due to the melting snow.

Why?
No sure whether this is a government or private agency. What caught my attention is the seeming extreme security measure the premises had taken. None of the surrounding business establishments come remotely close to what we see here.

West coast culture
One of the West Coast images people west of the Rockies has is us seating on sidewalk cafes sipping coffee. After all Starbucks did started its worldwide march in this part of the world. This overflowed bin on the corner of Burrard and Alberni seems to confirmed that Starbucks is still holds a commanding lead over its rivals.

Snowboarding
A great way to enjoy Canadian winter and snow is snowboarding. Many Lower mainland residents are fortunate that the North Shore powder snow is reachable by public transit.

Blackberry
Took this while riding the Skytrain and standing by the doors. As far as I know nobody was aware of it, certainly not the person who was busy keying away on her Blackberry. I can see how security could be a major issue with the ever increasing sophisticated handhold units.
