Correlation at the pump?

On Friday crude oil price dropped by almost US$5 and was cited as the reason for lowered the stock markets world-wide. This was the price at the pump this morning. It was less than a penny lower than Monday's posted price. So is there a correlation between crude price and price at the pump?

Moving higher

This morning gasoline price at the pump jumped over $1.40 a liter. By 10 AM it dropped backed to $1.38. Time to dust off the old bike and get some exercise while we travel.

At the pump

This was the morning of April 27, the day after I first posted the gasoline prices.

This was yesterday afternoon at a station on Kingsway. If the trend continues, by the time school is out, we should hit $1.50.

...and to nobody's surprise this morning at the corner of Willingdon and Lougheed it has crossed the $1.35 mark.

At the pump

This is the price for regular self-serve gasoline today and 13 days ago...

it was 5 cents per litre lower. May be it is not a bad idea to start taking photos of the posted price and track the increases. What to do about this sky is the limit type of increase? How about just park the car and throw away the keys? The exercise will not only do the body good but help to reduce one's carbon footprint. A win-win situation, ne c'est pas?
